Following the successful assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' political bureau in Tehran, Benjamin Netanyahu announced with renewed vigor that heavy blows have been dealt to Iran's proxy militant groups.
According to Tarz Press, Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated on July 30 in the heart of Tehran in a highly guarded location. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that he was killed by an airborne projectile. Meanwhile, foreign media reported, citing a senior Hamas member, that Ismail Haniyeh was targeted from a distance by a controllable missile. In a meeting with the country's security officials, Benjamin Netanyahu stated: "We will target anyone who attacks Israel. Anyone who strikes Israel will pay a heavy price."
Netanyahu made these remarks referencing the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh during his visit to Tehran and the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut. Israeli media quoted him saying: "We have struck heavy blows to Iran's proxy groups." Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has also ordered Iranian security officials to launch direct missile attacks on Israel.
