The Taliban's Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced that a Chinese investor plans to build a $40 million solar energy factory in Afghanistan.
According to the ministry's post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chinese investor, Shiye, met with Deputy Minister Ahmadullah Zahid and stated that the solar energy factory would create jobs for a thousand people. While detailed information is not provided, the Chinese investor has requested the Taliban's assistance in executing this project.
Recently, Chinese companies have shown increased interest in investing in various sectors in Afghanistan. Just a day earlier, Chinese engineers officially began the construction of the Mes Aynak copper project in Logar.
