Mohsin Dawar, leader of Pakistan’s National Democratic Party, has called on the international community to take immediate action following the recent decision by Mullah Hibatullah, the Taliban leader, to ban Afghan girls from pursuing medical education.
Dawar stated that Afghanistan is the only country where girls are denied education, and this situation must become an emergency issue for the entire world.
These remarks come as some Afghan girls inside the country have protested against the decision.
Earlier this week, on Monday, the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health instructed the heads of medical institutes that no girl would be allowed to continue studying in these centers. While the Taliban have yet to explain their reasoning for this action, they have previously closed schools and universities to Afghan girls.
