Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has announced that while it will not change its focus and will continue targeting the Pakistan military, it will adopt a policy of “silence” regarding the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
TTP issued this statement today, Monday, seemingly in response to the grand council (Jirga) held by the PTM and instructed its fighters to remain silent about the movement.
The statement reads: “Confronting any party or organization benefits the enslaved army (referring to the British Indian Army), so the mujahideen of the TTP are instructed that the policy regarding the Jirga held on October 11, 12, and 13, under the name of Pashtun National Justice, and the PTM, is silence.”
The statement emphasized that the TTP’s only target remains the Pakistan military. It further stated that even the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are not considered military targets and should not participate in the conflict on behalf of the military. So far, neither the Pakistani government nor the PTM has responded to this statement from TTP.
