Tarz Press: The U.S. Department of State announced that the Group of Seven (G7) has agreed to impose new sanctions as an alternative response to Iran’s missile attacks on Israel.
The G7 includes powerful countries such as the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the U.K., which pursue common global policy goals. Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, said in a press briefing on Thursday, October 2, that while Israel, as a sovereign nation, makes its own decisions, the U.S. is working to ensure that Israel considers the interests of both countries and the region when responding to Iran.
Miller stated that the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, the U.K., and the U.S. have discussed possible responses to Iran, and to maintain stability in the Middle East, they concluded that the best course of action would be the imposition of new sanctions. He added that the G7 has agreed that imposing additional sanctions is an appropriate response to Iran’s ‘unacceptable’ missile attacks.
Miller emphasized that this decision was made after the G7 consulted with U.S. President Joe Biden, with the goal of responding to Iran’s missile attacks on Israel.
